Remote monitoring for farms and industrial sites
Sensors, a site gateway and alerts for farms and industrial sites, including sites with no mobile coverage. Designed, installed and commissioned in Queensland.
Request a site assessmentRemote monitoring tells the right person, by SMS or email, when something on a site needs attention: a tank that is dropping when it should not, a pump that has stopped, a grain silo that is heating, a power supply that has failed. Readings are logged, so trends and records are available as well as alarms.
We use LoRaWAN, a low-power radio network designed for sensors spread over large areas. Battery sensors report every few minutes to a gateway that we install on site, typically on a shed, silo or mast, with its own Starlink or 4G connection. A single gateway can cover several kilometres in open country, so the system works on properties and sites where mobile coverage and wifi do not reach.
Each system is designed for the site. We assess the assets that matter, select and place the sensors, carry out the electrical work under our licence, set the alert rules with you, and commission the system before handover.
Monitoring services
- Stock and irrigation water monitoringTank, trough, dam, bore and channel monitoring with alerts, for stations, feedlots and irrigated farms.
- Livestock shed and pond alarmsIndependent alarms for poultry and pig sheds, hatcheries and aquaculture ponds, where minutes matter.
- Stored product temperature monitoringTemperature cables and probes for grain, hay, cottonseed, modules, bagasse and compost, to catch heating early.
- On-farm weather monitoringWeather stations that measure your own paddock and calculate the indices you work from: Delta T, inversions, heat load, frost and more.
- Tank and silo level monitoringLevel monitoring for fuel, chemical, gas, feed and cement storage, with reorder and theft alerts.
- Power and pump monitoringAlerts for power failures, stopped pumps, tripped circuits, generators and demand peaks, installed under our electrical licence.
- Plant condition monitoringVibration, temperature and pressure trends on conveyors, motors, switchboards and dust collectors, between scheduled inspections.
Why Holt Systems
Each monitoring system is designed for the site, installed under our electrical licence and commissioned with alert rules agreed with you.
Monitoring and alerts supplement the site's own control, protection, fire and safety systems. They do not replace them. Electrical work is carried out to AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules).
- Works without mobile coverage
- The site gateway has its own Starlink or 4G connection and battery backup, so sensors report from places phones do not reach and alarms still go out during a power failure.
- Electrical work under our licence
- Supply monitors, current sensors and switchboard connections are installed under QLD Electrical Contractor Licence 1513082.
- Alerts agreed with you
- Thresholds, delays and recipients are set for each asset during commissioning, so an alert means something needs attention.
- Designed for the site
- Sensor selection, placement and the gateway location follow a site assessment of the assets that matter to you.
